Glass vs resin – which should you choose?

Glass vs resin – which should you choose?

Glass vs resin – which should you choose?

This is one of the most important decisions when choosing your piece, and the simplest way to decide is this:

Which should you choose?

If you want to wear your jewellery every day without worrying about taking it off, choose glass.

If you’re happy to take a little more care and would like more design flexibility, resin may be the better option.

Why choose glass?

Glass is our most durable option.

It’s hard-wearing, doesn’t scratch easily, and won’t yellow over time. Once made, it’s designed to last and is ideal for pieces you plan to wear daily.

Glass also requires more skill and time to create, which is reflected in the price.

If you’re choosing a ring that you don’t want to think about taking off, glass is almost always the best choice.

Why choose resin?

Resin allows for much more flexibility in design.

It’s ideal if you’d like:

visible inclusions such as hair

layered or more detailed effects

sparkles, flakes, or colour throughout the stone

Because resin is a softer material, it does require more care. We recommend removing it for things like showering, swimming, or using chemicals to keep it looking its best.

A key thing to be aware of

Glass is very clear, which gives it a beautiful, gemstone-like finish, but it can make certain inclusions, like hair, less visible.

Resin allows more control over placement, so inclusions can be more noticeable.

Our advice

If you’re unsure, glass is usually the safest choice, especially for rings.

If your design is more detailed or includes visible elements like hair, resin may be the better option.
