We believe in complete honesty and openness, so you can make the right decision when choosing and caring for your jewellery.
Jewellery is made to be worn and loved, but it is not maintenance-free.
One of the most common misconceptions we see is the expectation that jewellery should remain unchanged no matter how it’s worn. The reality is, all jewellery requires care to keep it looking its best.
This isn’t specific to our jewellery, it applies to all jewellery, regardless of where it’s made or purchased.
If it isn’t looked after, changes will happen, and they’re completely normal.
Gold Isn’t Maintenance-Free
All gold, whether white, yellow, or rose, requires care.
White gold in particular is finished to achieve its bright white appearance, so it does require ongoing maintenance to keep that finish. This is standard across all jewellers.
Yellow and rose gold don’t have this same surface finish, which is why they can appear more consistent over time, but they still benefit from cleaning and care.
No gold is completely maintenance-free.
Having your piece made in gold is often recommended by jewellers, as it offers greater durability for everyday wear. Sterling silver is naturally a softer metal, so it benefits from more mindful wear to help maintain its shape and finish over time.
Water, Chemicals, and Daily Wear
Jewellery should not be worn continuously in water.
Regular exposure to water and everyday substances can affect how your jewellery looks over time. This applies to all jewellery, not just our pieces.
This includes:
-Soaps and handwash
-Cleaning products
-Chlorine in swimming pools
-Salt water
-Lotions, perfumes, and sanitiser
These can dull finishes, cause build-up, and impact the overall appearance of your jewellery.
“It Looks Different” — Why This Happens
If your jewellery looks different from when it was brand new, this is usually down to:
-Surface finishes changing
-Build-up of everyday residue
-Natural characteristics of the metal becoming more visible
This isn’t a fault, it’s part of how jewellery behaves when worn regularly.
Glass vs Resin – What to Expect
If your piece includes an inclusion stone, the material also plays a role:
Glass is hard-wearing and stable, making it ideal for daily wear
Resin allows for more colour and detail but requires more mindful wear
Resin in particular is not suitable for regular water exposure and can soften, crack, or yellow if worn this way.
Both materials are designed to last, but like all jewellery, they need to be worn with care.

How to Keep Your Jewellery Looking Its Best
A few simple habits make a big difference:
Remove jewellery before swimming, bathing, or using cleaning products
Avoid wearing it in hot tubs or the sea
Put jewellery on after lotions, perfumes, and sprays
Store it safely when not being worn
We recommend an at-home clean every few months using warm water, a small amount of dish soap, and a soft brush. After cleaning, gently polish your piece with the cloth provided to restore its shine.
Care Is Normal
Professional cleaning, polishing, or maintenance isn’t a sign something is wrong, it’s a normal part of owning and wearing jewellery.
This applies to all jewellery, not just ours.
Jewellery is designed to be worn, enjoyed, and lived in, simply with a little care to keep it looking its best. With the right care, your piece will continue to look beautiful and hold its meaning for years to come.
We’re always here to help guide you on care, so you can feel confident wearing your piece every day.
